Great episode! Mom of 3 boys here and can’t wait to check out Julia’s cookbook. We have lots of favorites but this one our winner when we need something quick and easy, especially on busy nights when everyone is coming and going.
Crockpot Chicken & Veggie Tacos. Easy prep night before, dump all ingredients in crockpot, set on low for 6 hrs, shred chicken and return to pot. Use as taco/burrito/quesadilla filling or in a grain bowl, also great for a Tex-mex style salad.
2# chicken (breast and or thighs)
5 bell peppers, sliced (I liked red, orange, yellow)
1 red onion sliced
2-3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 can no added salt diced tomato and green chile (Rotel)
Cumin, coriander, chili powder, oregano, cayenne, salt and pepper
Makes enough for left overs, in most houses…not always in mine!
Oh my. I just ate dinner and now I want to eat again. Thanks for the dinner inspo!!
I am making this next week! Sounds delicious!
Loved this episode with Dr. Julia! My favorite family dinner is Chicken Katsu with steamed vegetables. 3 chicken thighs, cut into strips, sprinkled with garlic salt. Dip in flour, then egg wash, then panko and fried till golden brown. Then I steam whatever vegetables I have (usually brocolli and carrots) in the pressure cooker. The sauce for the Katsu is ketchup, worstershire, soy sauce, and a little sugar. My husband and son gobble it all up leaving no leftovers whatsover.
Oh yum. Thanks for sharing!
One of our family favorites is a homemade Mac and cheese dish that I top with crushed cornflakes before popping in the oven. Usually serve it with broccoli. Family likes when I add small-diced ham to the recipe, me not so much. YUM!
We have some many favorites, but recently we have been making pizza with whole wheat naan bread. Just add a little sauce, some cheese and whatever other toppings you want. I pop them under the broiler for about 3-5 minutes until the cheese melts! Yum!
Oven baked salmon (seasoned with salt and pepper and served with lemon wedges) with steamed green beans and roasted spaghetti squash (some of us like to sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top and others garlic salt)
Pumpkin chocolate chip pancakes is a HUGE family favorite at our house!!
We really love ya o bar. No diverse! Tacos, nachos or salad. With tons of veggies. It can be a lot of prep but it feeds a crowd.

My whole family loves homemade chicken soup
My family loves when we have grilled salmon, steamed rice and broccoli. I just discovered roasted broccoli with garlic. Three out of four of us love it, so I’ll roast some broccoli and steam some. It’s quick and easy and we’re all happy!
My family likes when I cook a whole chicken and serve it with some veggies on the side.
I was looking for a way to get mushrooms into my kids’ diet. Chopped fine enough the kids don’t mind them on their pizza! My son actually picked dome out at the store tonight so we could make some this week. Their favorite topping are sausage and olives.
My family’s favorite is roasted chicken with roasted broccoli and rice.
I try to make things that are healthy and that my family enjoys but that is not always easy. Tacos are usually a winner overall and we have enjoyed trying new things in the air fryer. My husband also enjoys smoking foods in his smoker (the brisket this weekend was a big hit!).
Lentil tacos with homemade taco seasoning in lettuce wraps is a family favorite. Love all your shows Liz!
Glad you’re loving the shows. You made my day!
My favorite family meal is shrimp and sausage skillet with peppers and squash. Everyone loves it!
I learned so much from this episode, so beneficial for every parent!! My favorite go to recipe is quinoa cooked in low sodium chicken broth, with edamame and corn, so quick and my kids love it!!
Glad to hear your kids love quinoa … and that you enjoyed the show!!
My favorite family meal is whole wheat tortillas with black beans, quinoa, lettuce, tomato, avocado, shredded cheddar, and a dollop of plain yogurt. I sometimes add scrambled eggs. It’s quick, easy, and I usually have everything on hand.
